Jess had him last week (five weeks early) and he's doing awesome. What a champ. Check him out and read the story here.

Finally, I have some exciting news. (No, no babies). But, I'm running a race in Central Park on September 17! Yep, my super-awesome co-worker talked me into it. It's only a 4-mile race, but that's a lot for someone who NEVER runs. I just really want to get back in shape, and my co-worker is great inspiration. Check out her blog. The car is totaled—but she walked away without a scratch. The man hit the passenger side. Right where Macie would've been sitting had she been in the car. Tender mercy? I think so.

When I got the message this morning to call my mom, I was walking down the street in NYC. I joked with my co-workers about how parents always freak us out with the "Please call me as soon as you can" messages. But when I heard the words, "I was hit by a drunk driver" my world collapsed. Thank heaven they were followed by, "but I'm okay."

For a few brief seconds seconds I tasted a tragedy. But now I'm relishing in a miracle. From now on I will

love more,

live more,

laugh more,

rejoice more.

I love my family more than words can possibly describe. They are my very best friends—my lifeline. And I don't tell them how wonderful they are enough.

Macie is spunky, smart (She just won the science fair!), and stunningly beautiful.

Megan is compassionate, kind, hilarious, and ken-and-barbie gorgeous.

Andrew is genius smart, determined, and oh-so-handsome.

Chris is understanding, brilliant, sooo funny, and a wonderful husband.

My mom is brimming with love, energy, and life.

My dad is humble, genuine, dedicated, and a man to be revered.

I'm so grateful to have the Lord looking over my family. Believe me, I will not take them for granted again.

{FYI}

My mom is doing great! She's just dealing with a few aches and pains from the seat belt. The man who hit her was an older gentleman who had taken prescriptions drugs and been drinking. Although he felt horrible and apologized profusely, this, unfortunately, isn't his first run in with drunk driving. Please join us in praying for him to get help and overcome this addiction.

Heaven

Dark chocolate ganache-filled cupcakes with raspberry buttercream frosting. Woah dude. I made these for my Young Women today—and they were oh-so-delicious.

I followed this recipe for the cupcakes and ganache. One of my very favorite co-workers, Jean, sits in the cubicle across from me. There aren't words to explain how awesome he is. Anyway, the missionaries left this on his door, so he decided it was best to return it. Ha ha. But he did make sure to tell me that he always gives them something to drink when they knock before sending them on their merry way. (I'm like a proud mother).

I'm not going to say it's been easy, because it hasn't—at all. But it has been worth it. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be given this much responsibility at 22. And at first, I wasn't sure I could do it. But now, after almost three months, I have a firm testimony of our Savior's love for us and his willingness to help us in every righteous endeavor. I've been blessed with the most fabulous counselors anyone could ask for, and I know that we're just doing a small part to help these girls grow into strong, stalwart women they have the potential to be.

Now, I don't write about this to make you think I'm some amazing, spiritual giant of a person. Because I'm not. Far from it actually. But I want all of you (the four family members who read this blog) to know that in the Lords hands we can do anything.

In fact, it's funny how the Lord works. He knew that I needed to be pushed to my absolute limits, to feel inadequate, to have to ask others for help. I needed to be humbled.

Since moving to NYC and being surrounded by intelligent, confident, driven women, I've found myself becoming more of a perfectionist and even more ambitious. The problem is that this perfectionism is the selfish kind--not the kind we can and should feel as we draw near to the Savior and become perfected through him. The mentality out here is that you don't need anyone else--if you're a strong woman it's because you accomplished it from your own doing.

But that's not the way our Father intended it to be.

Thus, I needed to be humbled. I'm so grateful to have a knowledge of the gospel. I know that through the Savior I can become my very best self and so much more perfect than I could ever be my own accord.

I'm still striving to be better. To pray sincerely more often. To love others unconditionally (even during my morning commute on a jam-packed subway). To read, ponder and FEAST on the scriptures. And so much more.

But I know I can do it, because I am a daughter of my Heavenly Father who loves me and I love him. And I have promised to stand as a witness of God at all times (even during the morning commute, again), in all things, and in all places.

And guess what? He loves you, too.

Husbands Say the Darndest Things

Chris is a comedian--or so he thinks. The real kicker is that he's actually really funny when he's not trying to be.

Now, I do plan on blogging the last few months of our lives sometime in the near future, but I just had to share this.

We spent last weekend (my birthday extravaganza!) eating delicious food. Of course we did, we live in NYC. See pictures below (yummmm....). Let's just say about 5 doughnuts later, it was still worth it.

So now Chris has decided it's time to get in shape. Here's our conversation tonight.

Chris: This is it. Get ready for sexy Chris.

Mike: Hmmm....

Chris: I've decided that if I want to be a good dad and play with munchkins someday (NO, I'm not with child), I need to be in good shape... and be flexible.

Mike: Yeah, uh huh.

Chris: Will you help me stretch?

Mike: Okay. [I lean my shoulder against his hamstring apply a bit of pressure.]

Chris: AHHH!!!! [In all seriousness] Don't hurt me. I'm a delicate flower.

I love him.

The Doughnut Plant

For Jamyn

What would we do without our best friends? For one, this blog would not exist (seriously) if weren't for my beautiful sis-in-law Jessica Bailey, and it would never get updated (and seldom as that is) if it weren't for my bff Jamyn. So ladies, this one's for you.

When we last left off, Chris and I were just about to fly out to Utah for his Grandpa's funeral. It was beautiful—a wonderful celebration of a life worth celebrating. To read more about it, see Laur and Jeff's amazing tribute.

During this time, MEGAN AND ANDY GOT ENGAGED!!! We're so happy for these two little love birds. They're perfect for eachother. For those of you who don't know Andy, we call him "Andy Bear" [pause: Before andy left on his mission, I happened to walk in on the two of them cuddling on the love sac in our basement. Megan was cooing... yes, I said cooing, like a small child, "I leewwwve you Andy Bear. Yes, I leeewwve you." Let's just say they'll never live it down]. Anyway, here's little Andy Bear in a nutshell: our backdoor neighbor, our family's hometeacher, a member of the US ski team, an Olympic hopeful, a returned Norwegian missionary, and a great match for my lil' sis. They're so perfect together—like Barbie and Ken perfect—and I can't wait to see they're beautiful blonde babies.

Upon returning to NYC after the funeral, we had five days before leaving on a much needed, week-long vacation in Newport Beach, CA with my family. It was HEAVENLY, but way too short. We spent time lounging on the beach, eating donuts, jogging on the boardwalk, eating delicious food, playing games, building sand castles and eating more delicious, butt-widening food (aka Balboa bars). Chris and Macie—yes, just the two of them— even spent a whole day at Disneyland and California Adventure. They'd been planning it for months and enjoyed every second of it. I was so sad to leave my fam and the beach and head back to New York, but we're already counting the days until next year!

[Side note: Any time I sit down to read/write, Chris decides to pester me with ridiculous questions. You don't like rabbits? They're so nice and fluffy.]

Over Labor Day weekend we were so happy to have a visit from Mitch, Colleen, Laur and Jeff. They went on a baseball tour (Colleen and Laur, you two are saints!) that included at least 3 different cities and ended in NYC. It was so wonderful to see them. Laur and I had much needed girl time and Chris and Jeff worked on some manly bonding. Please come visit us again soon!!

And now, here we are. We are healthy, we are happy, and life is oh-so-good. I'm finishing my last two (for real this time) courses at Hunter right now: Multi-Ethnic American Lit and Shakespeare Survey. As of Dec. 14, I'll be "officially" graduated. Thank you BYU for being so amazing and helping me finish my degree. Without the patience and endless help of the wonderful Humanities counselor Ron Spotts, it never would have happend. He is heaven-sent. Seriously.

Also, not to make any of you jealous, but I have the. best. job. ever. I absolutely love my job. We just wrapped the December issue and received the November issue in the office: if you're not a subscriber to Dance Spirit, DO IT NOW!! The winner of SYTYCD Season 7, the lovely Lauren Froderman graces our cover wearing an adorable unitard by Jo + Jax. I had a blast styling her shoot and hanging out with her. Then, last week when the SYTYCD tour was at Radio City Music Hall, I had the chance to interview the entire cast. Boy, that's a high-energy bunch! It was crazy madness, but a total blast. Look for my video interview on dancespirit.com.

[Chris: Singing, "Oh my lovely, oh my lovely, oh my lovely mike the toad.... My mom and dad and Macie are coming to visit this week and we're SO STOKED! My dad has never been to NYC, so... party time! We'll blog about. Probably in three months. After Jamyn calls. :)

Chris and I are so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends. Thank you to each of you who make such a difference in our lives. We love you. Now come visit us. However, I wanted to take a moment to remember my Grandpa.

I never thought that when I stopped by my grandparents home just last monh to say hi, that it would be the last time I saw my grandpa in this life. While I have spent over the last 10yrs outside of UT I am so grateful that I took every opportunity to strenghten my relationship with my grandparents.

My grandpa is an amazing person. A true example of hard work, overcoming odds, someone who geniunely cares and sacrifices for others. I remember him traveling to see my sports activities, calling me on my birthday, and always taking an interest in my life. I am especially glad for the time I spent with them post college graduation before I moved to NY.

Thank you grandpa for your example and the lessons you've taught me. You have been such a great example and should be so proud of all you have accomplished, especially your amazing posterity. Kind of. You see, I'm keeping them in business. Unfortunately they aren't so kind to me. Yesterday I sat in the Myrtle Beach, SC airport for eight hours. Yep, that's right. I love you Delta for cancelling my flight after I'm all checked in and then making me going out and back through security. Earlier this year, they gave two other people tickets with my same seat. Can I just tell you how much I love being asked to get off the plane after I'm all buckled in. Then, to top it all off, I'm finally flying home (in first class mind you) when the air conditioning starts dripping nasty liquid (I really hope it was water) all over me. Ugh. Why can't I just apparate from place to place? Oh Harry Potter.

ANYWAY, despite my crazy travels, I have been able to travel to some amazing events. Here's the recap.

March- DRN Expo Fashion Show for Dance Spirit in Las Vegas, NV.
April- NDA College Dance Team Nationals in Daytona Beach, FL (and Disney World!)
April- Graduation in Provo/Preston and Jamyn Miller wedding.
May- Darren and Dezi Jaynes wedding.
June- Carl and CK wedding.
July- Showstopper and Hollywood Vibe Nationals for Dance Spirit in Myrtle Beach, SC.
August- Newport, CA with the Gee fam.
December- JFK--->SLC--->DISNEY WORLD--->SLC--->JFK. Wo Dude.

Weddings I'm devastated I had to miss: Chase and Alexa Hansen and Braden and Lyndsey Hansen. I love those two Hansen boys like brothers and I can't believe I wasn't there for their weddings. Living in NYC, 2000 miles away, really STINKS sometimes. However, I couldn't be more thrilled about their new wives. Alexa and Lyndsey are two of the most beautiful, amazing girls I know. Bray and Chase definitely caught the cream of the crop.

Okay, so here's a quick photo recap of the last couple of months. Now if you're wondering about the super-cute, cream and purple dress I'm wearing in every wedding pic, here's the story. As usual, Cindy and I decided to go shopping before Dezi's wedding and, of course, I fell in love with the dress. The only problem was its price tag. As I'm sure you can guess, my mom talked me into buying it, and I talked Chris into thinking it was an investment (i'm brilliant, I know). I told him that I was going to wear it to every wedding we had that summer. And I have. When I laid it out to wear to the last wedding Chris said, "Umm, Mike? Aren't you getting kind of sick of that dress?" Now that's a question I like to hear. Sounds like an open invitation to go shopping to me!

Now, without further ado, the pictures. Most of which have been stolen from other people via FB. Thank you to all those who haul their cameras around and take pictures.

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5492806787421507986" style="WIDTH: 240px; You're welcome. So, yep, it's been one year. It's the strangest feeling... I can't believe we've already been married a year (it's flown by!), but at the same time, I feel like I've been married to Chris forever. All I know is that I'm so grateful for the choice I made one year ago today.

It was the best one I've ever made.

For reasons I don't think I'll ever understand, Chris and I have been blessed immeasurably. Don't get me wrong, we've definitely had our challenges, but we've been able to grow and learn more in the last year than I ever thought possible. I feel so different than I did a year ago. So much older, more experienced, and a tiny bit wiser (hopefully). I've seen and done things I never thought I would, and I'm grateful for it.

It's been a fabulous year.

I'll try not to make this too sappy, but I have to say it- my husband has become my other half and I love him more that I ever dreamed I could (sorry, that was a little sappy). But it's true... You think you love someone on your wedding day, but then you realize that the love you felt then was only a tiny fraction of what you feel a year later. It's amazing. wonderful. inspiring.

I love my life. Yes, it's crazy, stressful, busy and hectic, but it's also amazing, fantastic and glamorous(think fergie). Chris and I spent the weekend gallavanting around NYC. We walk jogged all of Central Park (seriously, like 10 miles), relaxed at Lincoln Center, watched movies, ordered roomservice and ate at some of our favorite restauarants. It was the perfect anniversary weekend.

Now a little update...

1. My job is A.W.E.S.O.M.E. We're currently working on our Broadway issue, so I saw just about every dance show currently on Broadway: Rock of Ages, Phantom, Lion King, West Side Story, Fela!, Chicago, Memphis and more... If you're coming to NYC and need a suggestion let me know. Some are family friendly and some are NOT.

2. We found an amazing apartment on the Upper West Side with sweet private roof deck and cute, little loft. BUT... it's bad timing. CT is close, but with bad traffic... it could be a commuting nightmare for Chris.

3. We're now Manhattan temple workers. If you come to the temple in NYC on Friday nights please come find us!! This calling has been one of our greatest blessings. My understanding and love for the temple has grown so much.

4. We're having a baby! JUST KIDDING. sorry mom.

5. I'm a graduate. Kind of. Still have to finish that Independent Study course. It's gonna be the death of me.

6. My family has gone global. Chris and I are in New York, Megs is in London and Andrew is in Asia (Hong Kong, Japan, Tokyo, Taiwan). My poor parents.

7. Macie is a Rockstar. She's so beautiful and talented- she did amazing at her dance competition this past Saturday... We're so proud of you Mace!

8. My parents make me happy.

Until next time (whenever that may be)... live your life and love it.

It's been awhile...

Hmmm, where to start? Thanksgiving I guess! (Has it really been that long?) Thanksgiving was simply amazing. Chris's parents, Mitch and Colleen, along with Liz, Tyler and Alex, came to visit us in the Big Apple and participate in all of the joyous festivities NYC has to offer. We saw Billy Elliot (amazing!!), the Rockettes Christmas Spectacular (I love it more every year), watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and had dinner at the revolving restaurant on top of the Marriott Marquis in Times Square. All in all, I'd have to say it was a smasing hit.

Next up, CHRISTMAS... or "The Holiday." To be completely honest, I don't mind asking everyone what their "holiday" plans are. To each their own. In the meantime, I'll continue to celebrate the birth of the Savior. Speaking of, I used to teach the five turning six year-olds primary class. I had five very lively, darling girls. One day after sharing time I asked Samantha what she wanted for Christmas. She told me, then said, "What are you asking for? Or do you celebrate Jewish?" I just about fell off my chair.

Christamastime in NYC is a blast, minus the cold. Chris and I did some killer shopping and we just about froze to death. But, I must say that all of our gifts were a hit (at least I think they were). Right when we were about to fly home to peace and happiness, the storm from H-E-double hockey sticks let loose on the East Coast. All Delta flights were cancelled for four days. I was ticked to say the least. Nonetheless, Chris and I both made it home just in time for the festivities. Minus Chris inviting the swine flu to play, we had a very lovely holiday. Actually, it was freakin' awesome! Thanks to our wonderful families, we definitely cleaned up. Kindles, ipods, wiis, sewing machines, clothes... what more could you ask for? We also took family pictures with the Gees and the Baileys. A HUGE thank you to the ridiculously talented Courtney Brooke (the Gee fam) and the darling Alise Allen (the Bailey fam) who did our photos.

Since we've been back life has been crazy!! Before the break, I was amazingly blessed to be hired by Dance Spirit magazine as the Fashion Editor. It's pretty much a dream come true. I handle all of the fashion for the magazine along with writing the Beauty, Style and Health pages. In January I traveled to Baltimore, MD to shoot the Towson University Dance Team. The girls were darling and such fun models. Be sure to look for them in the April issue of DS! My acro story for the March issue of DS is now in stores or you can just read it online at http://www.dancespirit.com/articles/2496.

Chris has been such a worker bee lately. He's.... AMAZING!!! Talk about having the best husband ever! He knows I've been super stressed with working full time and getting ready to graduate from BYU in April, so he hired a cleaning lady, started doing laundry and even cooks me frozen pizzas for dinner! I love him so much. Sometimes I wonder how I got so lucky.

Well, I think that's about it. We're just enjoying NYC and all it has to offer. I'm now serving in the Young Women as the Beehive Advisor to the cutest girls you've ever met (we have 13 beehives!). Chris continues to work hard as the executive secretary and we're just loving life. Bryce and Jessica are here for two months training for Bryce's job with Goldman Sachs in SLC, and we couldn't be happier! Chris and I are still trying to figure out how to keep them here. We're going to be devastated when they leave- seriously.

Now that I've written my first novel it's time for me to say goodnight- Au revoir.

post script- i've officially finished my FIVE semesters of french. I never thought the day would come.

Life and Love

I never thought I would have a blog. Even more, I never thought I would post my heart on it. Well, I guess life is just full of things we never would have thought. I'm not sure why, but I feel the need to tell the world what an amazing man decided he wanted to marry me. Christopher Prince Bailey changed my life. November 13, 2007 was the beginning of a journey that has blessed my life in ways I can't even describe and made me a person I never would have become without Chris.

My husband is my very best friend. He understands me in ways I don't even understand myself and constantly pushes me to be my very best. He makes up for my weaknesses and strengthens my faults. He tells me I'm beautiful and wonderful and amazing when I know that I am not. He is ridiculously smart, yet so humble. His faith is unwavering, his commitment unmatched. He laughs with me, and he cries with me. He is my love and my life. And the best part is... he picked me.

Defeat

Okay, okay, you win... I have finally snapped under the pressure and surrendered to the bloggers of the world. Thank you Jessica for forcing Chris and me out of hiding- or so my mom would think. Just the other day she asked me why I never update my facebook status. Cindy said, "Mike, don't you want people to know how happy you are?"

Well mom, I guess a blog will have to do. For all those concerned readers out there, Chris and I are just happy little toads. We are absolutely loving living in New York and being married. Chris is currently working for a hedge fund. No, he is not a landscaper... nor does he trim our hedges (someone seriously asked me how he like landscaping). I am finishing my last semester of school at Hunter College in Manhattan's upper east side and transferring the credits back to BYU. I have also been interning for Dance Spirit magazine for the last six months. It's been amazing! I have actually been published in each issue and I get to do all sorts of fun things like styling the outfits and going to photoshoots, interviewing famous people (Mandy Moore, Shane Sparks, Wade Robson, Jessica Lang), and writing for the magazine. It's right up my alley.

We love the east coast, but definitely miss our families. It's so hard to miss birthdays, dance performances, football games (Go Cougs!), and Sunday dinners, but we know we're in the right place. We love going to Broadway shows, eating all the crazy ethnic food NY offers, and people watching... what more could you ask for? I can't wait for the holidays in NYC! Christmas Spectacular, Rockafeller Center, ice skating in central park... it's going to be great!

Hooray!
